biography

hunter rose began as the rebirth of the grand rapids punk band, just for kicks. jfk decided their time in the trenches was over and new direction was necessary. the initial line-up of jeff, tony, derek and yann, experimented with time signatures and unusual arrangements to create a new sound. they spent near two years playing, writing, gigging and touring, but sadly things began to change. jeff was already commuting from msu every weekend, tony was let go/left (depending on who you ask) and derek was thinking of going out west.

after almost a year of in-activity, jeff decided to rearrange things and hire some new guns to keep the dream alive. recent friends chris and john expressed interest in a colaboration and before long they were working on new material in a sweltering storage facility just north of east lansing. some progress was made, yet things were still changing. yann decided to leave the band in light of other priorities in his life, and the band was reduced to a trio.

after the physical relocation of two-thirds of the band we have decided to take a different approach to the future of our music. from this point we are a music project - that is, we will still collaborate on music, and share it with as many people as possible, though we will probably never perform any of it live, at least not in the sense of a traditional rock band. so, with that said we will be posting new ideas and samples of the stuff we cook up hopefully on a somewhat orderly basis, though we make no promises.
